The National Road Interpretive Center in Vandalia displays several exhibits to depict the construction of the National Road (Cumberland Trail).

These exhibits include an actual log from the National Road and surveyor's tools, dioramas of the landscape surrounding the National Road at its inception, and pictures depicting the road and towns during the time of its construction.

Artifacts from private collections are placed on loan during certain times of the year.
